"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easliy angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Cor 13:4-8 "Ideal love is fostered only between two sincere, mature and independent people. It is the inner struggle to polish these attributes that is the key. Real love is not two people clinging to each other; it can only be fostered between two strong people secure in their individuality." -Ikeda Sensei, Wisdom of Words Archives December 2003 January 2004 February 2004 March 2004 April 2004 May 2004 June 2004 July 2004 August 2004 September 2004 October 2004 November 2004 December 2004 January 2005 February 2005 March 2005 April 2005 May 2005 June 2005 July 2005 August 2005 September 2005 October 2005 November 2005 December 2005 January 2006 February 2006 March 2006 April 2006 May 2006 June 2006 July 2006 August 2006 September 2006 October 2006 December 2006 January 2007 February 2007 March 2007 April 2007 May 2007 June 2007 July 2007 August 2007 September 2007 October 2007 November 2007 December 2007 January 2008 March 2008 April 2008 May 2008 June 2008 July 2008 August 2008 September 2008 January 2009 June 2009 |
forbidden city.. twice Caught forbidden city on tues evening! it was absolutely fantastic! i've always enjoyed musical plays. the way they change the sets, the music and the script. for forbidden city:portrait of an empress, their sets didn't really change much. but the singing by the actors & actress and the story overwhelmed the sets. Music by the conductor was excellent too. I loved the opening piece & the one sang by kit chan(my only chance). Kudos to dick lee. Performance by Kit chan (yehenara) and Sheila Francisco (empress dowager) were excellent. Their vocals were strong, emotional and passionate! At the end of the play, they received much applause from the audience! The funny duo of record keepers - hossan leong & sebastian tan! They input so much laughter in the play. Everyone enjoyed the little funny acts that they did. It was no surprise that they received much applause at the end. This is one excellent piece that you all shouldn't miss. Although there were many primary school kids in the audience and I was sitting in the cat 3 seats, I enjoyed it tremendously! Worth all my $54 bucks. Oh, our tickets got us free drinks at Indochine:Forbidden City at Clarke Quay. So we took a cab to the place. I was full of awe when I entered and took my seat. The majestic stone statues of the marshals & sleazy settings were good contrast. And the crystal chandelier among them. Cool! The concept they had was great & I have no complaints with the service. We were having free wines (i had white wine) and we were treated like any other important guests. The finger food (roast duck) we ordered was yummylicious! It was a great day! Excellent play, food & drink! we should all support local production! they have good potential! Catch it asap before they drop the curtains at the end of sept! :: dawn tan :: at 9:10 PM |
